In 2002, even in the wake of the terror strike upon our Twin Towers, Dr. Jack Tidwell, a Columbus, Georgia oncologist and retired Lieutenant Colonel, and his wife Eve observed protesters harassing a soldier and his family in a restaurant. This disrespect prompted them to go to work organizing an event which ultimately has become God Bless Fort Benning Day. The Tidwells formed God Bless Fort Benning, Inc. as a non-profit organization with the purpose of honoring our soldiers and their families. Without their vision and love for our military, God Bless Fort Benning Day would not possible. We are grateful for their hard work and dedication which has made this event grow from 40 participants its inaugural year to over 20,000 attendees in 2007.

Thanks to Dr. and Mrs. Tidwell, God Bless Fort Benning Day has become a wonderful way for our community to show our gratitude for those men and women who dedicate their lives protecting our freedom.
